This year, 2009, The Edinburgh Festival Cavalcade took place in Holyrood Park, the traditional parade along the city centre's Princes Street not being possible due to the ongoing construction of the new tram system.
A reported crowd of 75,000 watched about 2000 participants from around the world parade in the sunshine past The Salibury Crags and The Scottish Paliament.
