Having opened to the public in 1896 for transporting passengers around the city, Glasgow Subway is one of the oldest underground systems in the world.
While the subway's running lines are entirely underground the maintenance depot at Broomloan Road is above ground, the trains climbing a ramp to exit the tunnel system for engineering, cleaning and maintenance. The Broomloan depot was modernised in the 1980's and is an impressive, clean workplace.
